Dear person I hate, Dear person I like, Dear ex boyfriend, Dear ex girlfriend, Dear ex bestfriend, Dear bestfriend, Dear *anyone*, Dear Santa, Dear mom, Dear dad, Dear future me, Dear past me, Dear person I’m jealous of, Dear person I had a crush on, Dear girlfriend, Dear boyfriend,
She nods “ Oh yes, its been what? a month? two?” She asked amusingly before taking her place next to her with drinks and food “ How is work going? Your in music right? or is it another field? Last we saw each other we spoke briefly on it so i am uncertain of it”
“Way too long, I know that much.” Her hands automatically clutched around her cup as she pulled it closer to her, eyeing the drink briefly. “Yes, I am an idol in a popular girl group. We are currently promoting solo activities rather than group ones, but it is fun as well.”
The time she spends with yoona has been far and few in between. She missed her friend dearly because she was one of her oldest friends. She remembered her being in the entertainment industry. She has seen her face all over posters and such, even saw that she was in a show. The cafe taking up most of her time she felt bad she was not as on top of her friends career as she would like. When she has some time off she will binge watch the shows so she can catch up “ Do you like it? Doing group activities or solo work? You do both right? both acting and singing…if you had to pick one which would you want?”
He took a small sip of his drink before speaking once more, “They will stay the same. They’ll raise in a year though if this place isn’t a success.” he was rather blunt with his work. While he was an awkward man with women outside of work he had a bit of weakness for them.
“We can start whenever you’re ready. All I have to do is make the call and they’ll be over here. We just have to get these prints and show it to them and we can cover the materials, also… They both eat a lot… so be prepared to make a lot of food for them. They’ll get their payments from me but payment in food from the lady of the café is always welcomed.“
She nods, listening intently. She was not worried about it not being a success because the cafe had a steady flow of customers that was growing. Not only this but she could give them steady payments even if was hitting a dry patch for customers. She felt the excitement run through her veins when he said that they would be able to start right away. Good! The sooner the better!
She lets out an amused chuckle, “ Yes i would not want it any other way. I love paying with food” she said happily. She loved cooking, it was more than her job it was a way of life for her so any chance she got to cook be it for herself or someone else. “ Are there any allergies i should be aware of as far as your team goes? I do not want to make something only to have them unable to eat it.” She said knowing she could get carried away with cooking. She could make anything under the sun she just simply did not want to accidentally kill someone while they were on the job.
She smiled at his honesty “ Well, Its easy if you take the time to learn and have a love for it, People often take meals and make tweaks to them so you should do that too once you begin learning.” She nods and offers him a pastry, letting him know its okay to jump in because she knew he was being polite in waiting for a sign of when to eat. Hearing the girlfriend comment she laughs “ Ahh! Well then, you may need a second opinion! Find someone you know who you knows will not lie or is not that close to you. Because then they will be less afraid of being honest” She said humorously. She often had that problem growing up cooking for family, she never knew if they truly enjoyed it or were just saving face for her. Opening up the menu she began making adjustments while watching him react to her food “ Your not…just being nice now are you?” She teased a little.
He was pretty aware just how close people would sometimes save the brutally honest opinions just to be kind instead, but he was sure that his girlfriend wasn’t like that at all as he shook his head while munching on the lovely pastry. “She is pretty honest with me. She told I’ve been getting better – so I was kind of bad before, but I am getting better but still not close to perfection. I trust her opinions.” He answered along with flashing a smile right afterwards, taking another small bite at the delicious looking cupcake that she had previously offered him. He wasn’t one to lie about it either or even sugarcoat his own opinions – if people requested him for his thoughts about something, they were looking for nothing but the truth and that was what he’d try to give them. With that being said, he was quick to answer her question with a shook of his head, further proving his own opinion by forming words of his own. “Of course not, this is really delicious…”
She could tell he was not lying, as his physical features were giving away his enjoyment of the food. This made her happy as she wrote down the products, giving each a page and making sure to add the recipe. Redoing the menu was tough but she enjoyed it, because you could tell a lot about someone through the food they chose. If they liked things overly sweet, with a bit of bite, or savory on the tongue could tell a lot about the personality of that said person. She could tell he was kind through his enjoyment but when he spoke she could also sense his honesty. Cleaning up any mess left on the table while creating some small talk “ How long have you two been together? You must really love her to try cook, and her you for for being your own personal taste tester.” She said with amusement.
It was one thing to be comfortable with someone, but to get out of your own comfort zone with someone else showed a real relationship. Because this left you vulnerable to their view or opinion. If his food started as bad as he made it seem like it was then the feelings were mutual, because no one could really stand a horrid cook for a period of time and continue allowing them in the kitchen.
Jongin nodded and gave him a small smile before getting up with her prints and heading outside to make a phone call. He needed to speak with the higher up on this and was willing to get his family to do the work for her. Soyou, Minseok, and he did know a thing or two about building. So, it wouldn’t be that big of an issue.
He got the approval and went back inside. “Inside is fine, whichever…” he said softly, having a seat. “I got the approval for the rest of the loan… but you might not need it. I know a few people that would be willing to help out.
She claps her hands in excitement “ Yay! You are the best, i knew there was a reason i only request you” She said smiling. His customer skills are excellent and he goes out of his way for the customers which is you rarely see now a days. He truly cared for the customers and his job so she knew he would go far no matter where because he put his all into his work. Pushing a drink his way she sips her coffee.
“ how soon would we be able to start and how big would my payments now become?” She asked trying not to ask too many questions at once an overwhelm the poor boy.
She was confused as to why he was hiding his notebook until he explained it. A soft smile spreads along her face before taking another sip from her mug of tea. It was considerate of him to hide it and not ruin it for her, she found that she was rather fond of movies. Especially for her sleepless nights and there was nothing but movies that could force the time to pass for her.
She could tell that this boy was very sweet, when he continued to ask about her feet and working all day. Letting out a small laugh she leans back “ I made sure there was special form behind the working tables so that way it would not hurt the feet so much. But do not worry about me, I like standing and walking. I find that i cannot sit for long periods of time sometimes. Especially when i am here, being in my own cafe id much rather be working and be hands on that what others call supervising” She said with amusement and looks through her inventory on the glass display to see if they need more of anything. Keeping her attention on the customer she asked “ What made you want to be a movie critic?”
Her interest in him was a little confusing to him. Was she this nice to all of her customers? No wonder she was busy at days then. He fidgets with his notebook as he contemplates his answer. How does he respond to that? The answer is a little longer than he wants to admit, but eventually he settles for the short, bold, simple truth. “I love movies.” He says, “I love them a lot. But even if I love them, there’s always room for criticism. I can’t stand it, for example, when people call a movie perfect. Because that’s very rarely the case.”
He falls quiet when he catches himself near to ranting, and he doesn’t feel like boring the girl with his technicalities of film and how he criticizes every movie. He sips his coffee some and stares at the table for a moment before lifting his gaze to meet hers. “Are you ever going to bring that fireplace beverage back in the winter?” He asks, licking over his lips. He remembers it clearly, how he’d been there for the first time and had ordered the beverage on a chilly winter day, snowflakes melting in his hair. Hot chocolate with cocoa flakes and pink and white mini marshmallows, topped with white chocolate. The drink had made feel Kyungsoo warm on the inside, and he remembered almost wanting to cry of happiness. Ever since, he’d been a steady customer.
Everyone had a backstory and she loved learning about each and every one. The cafe was her life and a big part of it was learning and getting to know the people who came through her doors. She listened to him talk about movies, the way his eyes lit up told her that this was indeed his passion. She laughs a bit with a nod “ Its true, there is always something wrong with a movie rather its fashion choices, scenery, or bad casting. I had a friend who saw a movie, cannot for the life of me think of what it was but…she thought it was the most perfect movie when it wasn’t. It was unrealistic but portrayed to be realistic…just the story line was horrible and everything else went with it” She said shaking her head with an amused grin.
Going through the menu she blinks “ Hmm? oh Yes, we still can make it right now i just do not order the supplies in bulk instead i do singular. Would you like to have that or maybe try some summer drinks later on? I have a taste testing class. I Select few customers to come taste test and its about… 10 dollars per person to come in. I give samples of the whole menu if your ever interest!” She offered knowing that was his go to drink in the winter and hoping to find him one for the summer.
